It’s a simple process, a free hot meal, a free cup of coffee, a place to see familiar faces and have people ask how your week has been… A smile and a sandwich costs us nothing as volunteers but it can mean the world to someone who is down on their luck. The soup kitchen is an easy way of letting them know that they are not forgotten and they are not alone. ![]() From elderly people sleeping in doorways in the rain to young people begging for loose change. ![]() I set up the Children of Adam soup kitchen with family and friends many years ago as a way of reaching out to help our community here in London.Īs much as our hearts may be attached to various causes and charitable campaigns overseas it’s a primary ethos of our Islamic upbringing that charity starts at home, and London is home.Īs Muslims we have a duty of care for our neighbours and neighbourhoods and just walking around central London you can’t help but notice the palpable and urgent sense of need. Now in our 12 th year, we serve hot food, snacks and drinks to 170+ guests every week. Over the years, Children of Adam transformed through fundraising and the kind donations of the community. ![]() Children of Adam was founded in 2011 by Hanan, who rallied her family, friends and local university students as volunteers with a simple purpose: feed the homeless every week.
